BOOTY OF WAR-PART II
Andrey Firstov
This photobook, part two of a five-book series, on the subject of captured AFVs in IDF service, was released in late 2023.

The author has set a goal to document all the captured equipment that he could find in relevant Israeli archives. The result is this second book in the series, with more than 270 pages and numerous AFV and soft-skin vehicle photos of the Six Day War and the War of Attrition.

REVIEWS:
Christopher Doubleu says: So glad to get my very own copy. Maybe even better than Volume 1? 278 pages, probably 500+ photos many published for the first time, great text and captions, it even covers obscure items like field kitchens and infantry weapons.

Egyptian Askari BLOG: The second volume of this self-published, heavily-illustrated series depicts vehicles and other equipment of the Arab armies which were captured by Israel during the 1967 war and the War of Attrition. (Many of the captured vehicles were subsequently put into service by the industrious Israel Defense Forces.) Many of the photos are from private collections and published for the first time, and others pulled from obscure corners of well-known public archives and equally unknown. This volume has 278 pages, with 1-2 photos on most pages, all well-reproduced (even if the original photos are not the finest quality). Captions provide succinct overviews of each vehicle, as well as details where available of when and where it was captured. As this volume includes the 1967 War, there are photos of former Egyptian, Jordanian, and Syrian equipment. But the Egyptian share of the content is substantial. I counted about 80+ photos of vehicles or equipment in Egyptian markings, captured or destroyed. There are probably about twice that number of shots of former Egyptian equipment in Israeli service. Subjects include the classic and best-known pieces of equipment (T-54/55 and T-34/85 tanks, Walid APCs, artillery and antiaircraft artillery, and endless numbers of GAZ and ZIL trucks). There are some rarities as well, including GAZ-69 jeeps with AT-1 (2P26) antitank guided missiles, a BTT-1 armored recovery vehicle, artillery tractors (AT-S, AT-T, and AT-L) and a Magirus-Deutz tanker truck. There’s even a KP-2-49 field kitchen. Copies are available directly from the author. Nowhere in the book can I find his contact information but he’s active on Facebook at Andrey Firstov Books, or you can email him at firstov363@gmail.com. I believe this copy, and the equally impressive earlier volume covering the 1948 and 1956 wars, are sold out, but drop him a line – if there’s enough interest he might reprint a few more copies.
